  • Construct and fly a model glider
  • Sit in a replica Spitfire cockpit
  • Learn unusual RAF pilot code
  • Complete all activities to graduate from Pilot School and collect your prize!

There is no need to pre-book , Pilot School activities are drop in.

They are included in Museum admission; children aged 5 and under are free with accompanying adults.

Kit Bags

Families visiting at any time of the year can take one of our Explorer Kit Bags.

The kit bags include activities to make and do whilst exploring the museum, and each tells a different story of a Battle of Britain pilot or Second World War WAAF. Each kit bag is different so friends and siblings can explore more than one story.

The kit bags are included in Museum admission.

We ask that they are returned as you would expect to find them ready for the next family to enjoy.

During the school holidays we always run activities for families, including craft sessions and object handling, using the museum’s unique collection.

Past activities have included our Airfix make and paint kits, biscuit decorating and stained-glass window making.

See What’s On for details on forthcoming activities and go to Family Visits for more information on what else there is for families to do around the museum.
