SUMMARY:Friday Morning Talks: ‘Before Radar’
DESCRIPTION:Update: Please note that this talk will now be presented by Colin Brooks from the Radio Society of Harrow. \nIn 1935\, when the British Government decided it was essential to develop an early warning radar system\, there was no such thing as an operational radar station anywhere in Britain. Experiments on early warning systems against hostile air attacks began early in World War 1\, around 1915\, in response to the unfolding German air campaign\, and continued through the next two decades. \nThis talk is an introduction to the thinking of scientists\, politicians and the military during that time. There were certainly some bizarre ideas and we’ll look  at some of the inventions\, ideas\, developments and experiments that took place prior to 1935. \nBy Peter Marcham\, Radio Society of Harrow \nIncluded in Museum admission\, Annual Membership\, or £5 donation. \nReserve Your Place
