DESCRIPTION:Join us for a talk from Aldon Ferguson\, who\, in this timely lecture to commemorate the 75th anniversary\, will explore with us the history of D-Day\, 6th June 1944. \nBy Aldon Ferguson FRICS\, MRAeS \nAbout Aldon Ferguson \nAldon’s love of all things aviation and related buildings led to him becoming one of the leading experts in military aviation history. He was a founder member of the Airfield Research Group and has featured in many TV programmes. He is the archivist and author of the history of No 611 (Fighter) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force and has written many books and magazine articles on RAF History. \nWorking with the RAF and approved by the Air Historical Branch (RAF)\, he is now recording RAF bases in great detail so that their architecture and military activities can be archived forever with English Heritage\, RAF Museum and County Record Offices for generations to come. \nIncluded in Museum admission\, Annual Membership\, or £5 donation. \nReserve Your Place \n \n

DESCRIPTION:This half-term holiday\, children can create their own Battle of Britain inspired artwork at easels around the galleries and gardens (weather permitting).\nThis activity will run alongside artist Mark Postlethwaite working as an artist-in-residence between Monday 27th May – Saturday 1st June. Families can also contribute to the artwork he will be creating. \nPLEASE NOTE: The Museum will be open on every weekday over this half-term: Saturday 25th May – Saturday 1st June [Not open Sunday 26th May]. Activities will be available 11am – 3pm on these days. \n

SUMMARY:Friday Morning Talks: Painting our Heroes
DESCRIPTION:As part of his exciting Artist in Residency week at Bentley Priory Museum\, professional aviation artist Mark Postlethwaite GAvA will be giving a talk covering his thirty years of painting aircraft. \nDuring this time\, Mark has flown in a variety of front line fast-jets as well as vintage aircraft such as the Fe2b and the Fieseler Storch. He has also been lucky enough to work with some of the most legendary veterans of WWII as well as most front line RAF Squadrons. \nHis work hangs in museums and private collections worldwide and has appeared on over 150 book covers for Osprey Publishing. \nMark will talk about some of the highlights and funny stories from those thirty years and demonstrate his approach to painting. \nBy Mark Postlethwaite \nIncluded in Museum admission\, Annual Membership\, or £5 donation. \nReserve Your Place
