DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Friday morning talk\, where Dilip Amin will be be with us to talk about The Story of the Battle of Britain Bunker at Uxbridge (Former 11 Group Headquarters during the Battle of Britain) and the World’s First\nIntegrated Air Defence System. \nDilip will be talking about the research behind his recently released book ‘Enemy Sighted’\, which: \n• Explores the Battle of Britain Bunker’s history and its role in defending the UK \n• Shows how an aerial shield was forged in the lead up to WW2\, and explains how Britain’s integrated air defence system came together and operated \n• Details the Bunker’s central role during the Battle of France\, the Dunkirk Evacuation\, the Battle of Britain and the Blitz \n• Portrays a detailed account of Battle of Britain Day\, using actual combat reports \n• Reveals how Winston Churchill was influenced by and played a part in the Bunker’s history \n• Provides a wealth of captivating information and intriguing facts\, assimilated through\nextensive research of many original wartime documents \nDILIP AMIN is a retired police chief superintendent\, with a life-long interest in military history\, military aviation\, and the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He volunteers as a tour guide at the Battle of Britain Bunker and relishes the opportunity to share its rich and fascinating story with visitors\, bringing its history to life as a tribute to those who served there during the dark days of war. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Friday morning talk\, where Gary Italiaander returns to tell the story of his father’s experiences during the Second World War. \nAfter joining us last year for a sell out audience with Bomber Command veteran Monty Felton DFC\, Gary returns to tell the story of his Father Michael Italiaander\, who was a great friend of Monty. Michael was the youngest British war artist in the 2nd World War.  Gary has recorded the fascinating and amusing stories told to him by his father in a book called ‘My Father’s War’\, which also features many of Michael’s stunning paintings and cartoons. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Friday morning talk\, where Mark Lemon will be talking to us about his Mother’s wartime experience of building Spitfires. \nWe were given a talk last year by the Spitfire Makers Charitable Trust. Following the bombing on the Supermarine works in Southampton\, production needed to be dispersed around Southampton and the surrounding areas into many small industrial units and garages. The dispersal of the manufacturing process\, also led to the dispersal of small teams of workers. Mark’s Mother ‘Peggy’ was one of those workers who helped to keep the vital production of Spitfires going at crucial point in the war. DESCRIPTION:We will be welcoming back Harrow Apollo Male Choir on Sunday 10th December for their annual Festive Concert at the Museum.\nHarrow Apollo Male Choir will perform festive favourites in the Museum’s spectacular Operations Room.\nThe Festive Concert will take place from 2.30pm until 4.30pm\, with an interval. \nTickets include a mince pie and non -alcoholic festive punch/juice at the interval. \nTicket costs: \n\nAdults: £15\nConcessions: £12\nChildren (Aged 6-16) £6\nUnder 5’s: £3\nCarer: Free\n\nThe Museum galleries and Shop will be open from 1.30pm. \nBook Online Here or call 020 8950 5526.

DESCRIPTION:Paul Joyce has provided the opportunity for Bentley Priory Museum to present\, for the first time\, his unique collection of pictures inspired by his memories of The Second World War. His paintings combine personal impressions of earth-shattering events with received images\, which we have scarcely recovered from eight decades on. His claim to be the sole remaining artist still dealing with the emotional and psychological effects of a conflict which ended with the only time nuclear weapons have been used in battle\, is probably accurate.
