SUMMARY:Friday Morning Talks: ‘War Girls: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose by Women in the First World War'
DESCRIPTION:Ruth Sillers\, who began her career with National Youth Theatre and regularly reads for Radio 4 and BBC World Service\, will be talking about and performing extracts from her own audio book compilation\, ‘War Girls’. \nThe anthology is a commemoration of the remarkable and largely unsung experiences of women in the First World War told in their own words. Some are the writings of well-known poets and novelists\, but many more are the stories of ordinary women living in extraordinary times. They detail not only hardship and suffering\, but also the joy and excitement as the war brought challenges\, freedoms and possibilities previously unknown to them. \nBy Ruth Sillers \nIncluded in Museum admission\, or £3 donation. Booking not required\, simply come along on the day.
