Our exhibition galleries and Museum facilities were created in consideration of the different interests and needs of children and adults. We hope that your family enjoy exploring the history of Bentley Priory through our family friendly resources and activities, interactive displays and award winning audio visual film.
“We had the best day out as a family we have had in a long time”. [Family visit, January 2017]
Family Trails
We have free family friendly trails available to support your exploration of Bentley Priory Museum.
They are available all year round from reception on your arrival, or alternatively you can download them before you visit:
History Trail | Indoor Animal Trail | Garden Animal Trail | Botanical Bentley Trail.
Explorer Kit Bags
The kit bags include activities to make and do whilst exploring the museum, and each tells a different story of a Battle of Britain pilot or Second World War WAAF. Each kit bag is different so friends and siblings can explore more than one story.
Whilst the backpacks are included in Museum admission, we do ask for a small deposit of £5. These will be returned when the backpacks are handed back at the end of your visit ready for the next family to explore!
Interactive Exhibits
Bring Bentley Priory’s RAF History to life with our interactive exhibits – take a seat in a life-size, replica Spitfire cockpit and try your hand at aircraft recognition as a member of the Observer Corps.
Historical Costumes
Explore Bentley Priory’s history and residents over time by trying on some of these beautiful hand-made costumes.
Did you know, Bentley Priory was once home to a wealthy Georgian Marquis, Queen Adelaide (aunt of Queen Victoria), and an all-girls’ school?
Family Activities
During the school holidays we always run activities for families, including craft sessions and object handling, using the museum’s unique collection. See What’s On for forthcoming activities.
Family Facilities
Baby change facilities are available in the ladies and the accessible toilets situated near the café.
Our friendly café offers a selection of child-friendly food and staff are happy to warm bottles or baby food. Breastfeeding is welcome throughout the Museum. Highchairs are available.
The Museum is fully pushchair accessible.

Family tickets and annual memberships for families with 1 or 2 adults and up to 3 children are available. See Admission Charges for more information.
