Friday Morning Talks: Like Father, Like Son: A Story of Two Airmen
November 5, 2021 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for our next Friday Morning Talk, by Air Marshal ‘Black’ Robertson!
In this talk, AM Robertson discusses how he came to pen the story of two improbably fortunate individuals – one a decorated Spitfire ace whose brief wartime career was ended by injury and the other, a Cold War flier who retired in 1998. Illustrated with stories of their shared experiences, the Air Marshal will reflect not just on parallels a generation apart but also on the changing face of the RAF.
By Air Marshal ‘Black’ Robertson CBE BA FRAeS FRSA RAF (Retd)
About AM Black Robertson
Black Robertson joined the RAF in 1963, instantly acquiring the nickname that’s remained with him ever since. After 3 years at the RAF College, Cranwell, he spent the next 33 in flying, staff and command appointments, including tours of duty in the USA, Germany and the Falkands. He flew all the RAF’s front line fast jet aircraft and also qualified as a helicopter pilot. After retiring he spent some five years with BAE Systems before setting up his own consultancy in 2003. A trustee of the David Vaisey Library Prize and a Cranfield Trust mentor, his second book is due for publication next year.
This talk will take place onsite in the Museum’s Learning Centre and is included in Museum admission or Annual Membership.
